About The Author
Local journalist and author Jason Fargo grew up in Highland Park, where he developed an early interest in exploring the streets and neighborhoods of Chicago and its suburbs. After earning a B.A. in Spanish at Amherst College in Massachusetts, studying in Madrid and Jerusalem, and working for an extended period in London, Fargo returned to Chicago, where he continues to seek out the new and unusual throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to writing A Native's Guide to Chicago's Northern Suburbs, Fargo is associate editor of Credit Card Management magazine and works as a freelance journalist. His work has appeared in several publications including National Mortgage News, JUF News, and Writer's Digest. At various points he has also served as freelance translator and Spanish tutor, and for several years he taught conversational Spanish at Chicago's DePaul University. In the future, Fargo plans to continue writing and hopes to delve further into local history, a subject that he investigated heavily during research for his recent book. With an extensive base of knowledge gained from decades of experience, Fargo also hopes to write more about the Chicago area's hidden treasures in order to share his interest in the region with locals and visitors alike.
