    From Library Journal
The two latest in this Sierra Club series provide prospective ramblers with in formation on the Alps (all regions, in cluding northern Yugoslavia) and what is known to Europeans as the Grande Randonee Cinq. The latter is a walking trail that begins at the Hook of Holland and ends in Nice, after taking the walk er through Holland, Belgium, Luxem bourg, Switzerland, and, finally, the south of France. The terrain is greatly varied, rising from the flat plains of Flanders to the heights of the Vosges, the Jura, and finally the French Alps, before descending to the Mediterra nean, and it took Margolis and Harmon some 107 days to traverse at reasonable walking pace. The Reifsnyder volume offers the reader much shorter rambles in various Alpine regions, ranging from the very well-known areas (like Interlaken) to the less well-known (like northern Yu goslavia). Both books are packed with useful information on all areas they di cuss, and are written in cheerful, no- nonsense prose. Indispensable for seri ous walkers in these regions. Thomas M. Robinson, Philosophy Dept., Univ. of Toronto

    Reader Reviews
In 1991, four of us, aged 50 - 70, flew to Amsterdam, and from there, in three months, walked the trail as described by the ladies. The detail in which they describe each place they visited, made us feel comfortable when otherwise we may have been apprehensive at the newness of this adventure. They detail places to eat, food to try, little bits of information one might easily overlook all of which enhanced our trip. We have recommened this comprehensive guide to several of our friends. This book will take you by the hand, across Europe, and leave you with a memory for the rest of your life.
